NEWARK: Age 103 entered eternity on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. VanKoevering was born the daughter of the late James and Mary (Oldacre) Fagner on August 16, 1909 in Newark, NY. She grew up in a 10-room house on Blue Cut Road. Mrs. VanKoevering and her late husband Henry owned and operated the Henry’s Hardware Store on West Union St. Cooking and baking was an enjoyable time for her. She made pies, cakes, birthday and wedding cakes. Everyone loved her Dutch bread that her grandmother taught her how to make. She played piano and loved the so called “old time music”. Mrs. VanKoevering was most of all very happy working in her flower gardens in the summer time. Mrs. VanKoevering will be remembered by her son Henry Jr. (Pat) VanKoevering of Newark; daughters Mary (Morris) DePaepe of Macedon, Eleanor Read of FL and Betty Lou Miller of Victor; 19 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 60 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. VanKoevering was predeceased by her husband Henry in 1974; brothers George, Herman, Frank, Walter, Lester, Jim, Harold and Arthur; sisters Lulu, Ruth and Susie.
Family and friends may call Monday (Nov. 26) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St, Newark. A Funeral Service will be Tuesday (Nov. 27) at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial in East Newark Cemetery.
