Sports Update – February 25, 2012

Boys Varsity Basketball

Newark 64, Livonia 47
Josh Williams had a double-double 21 points and 10 rebounds and Anthony Lombardi added 12 points and dished out four assists for Newark (11-8). Wyatt Struble scored 23 points and Cody Cronmiller chipped in 14 for Livonia (8-11).

B1 quarterfinals.
Midlakes 39, Pal-Mac 52
Coleston Scheik scored 15 points, including three 3-pointers and Sean Nolan added 12 points for Pal-Mac (12-7). Cody Argus scored seven of his eight points in the fourth quarter for the Red Raiders, who opened the fourth quarter on a 9-4 run. Tyler Fisher and Ricardo Thomas each had nine points for Midlakes (7-13).

Junior Brady Lewis had 19 points and 10 rebounds and his classmate Matt Insley added 18 points and seven assists for Wellsville (13-6). North Rose-Wolcott is 9-10.

Girls Varsity Basketball

Class CCC semifinals

No. 5 Addison 41 vs. No. 1 Gananda 39
Brooke Collins hit a 15-foot jumper with 25 seconds left to put Addison (14-5) up 41-39.

Addison shot 16 of 22 from the free-throw line, including 10 of 14 in the fourth quarter.

Kelly Duvall finished with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 steals and Collins grabbed nine rebounds for the Knights.
