Gananda’s Third Softball Sectional Title in Five Years

Freshman Peyton Wyjad singled between first and second with two outs to drive in the winning run for Gananda (19-1) in the bottom of the 10th inning.  The 9-8 win over Williamson gives Gananda its third sectional title in five years.

Wyjad finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and Tournament MVP Caitlin McClare was 2-for-6 with two RBI for the Blue Panthers.
Darci MacFall added three RBI in the win.

Williamson took a 3-0 lead into the third before Gananda tied it and eventually went 5-3 in the fourth.

The Marauders took a 6-5 lead in the top of the sixth on a two-run single by Carly Bean.

Gananda tied it back up in the bottom of the inning.

The Marauders went ahead 8-6 in the ninth, but the Blue Panthers loaded the bases and tied the game with a pair of RBI ground outs.
Tiffany Burks got a pop out and two strikeouts to kept Williamson off board in the 10th.

Gananda will play Keshequa in a state qualifier Friday at a site and time to be determined.
