Burm, Edward L.
NEWARK: Age 69, of Welcher Road, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Newark-Wayne Hospital. Ed was born in Sodus, October 19, 1938, the son of Peter and Rose Francisco Burm. He was a roofing contractor and worked for Graybill & Jackson Burm Company and was self-employed. His family meant so much to him. Survived by his wife of 18 1⁄2 years, Margaret Sapp Burm; 4 daughters, Angel Burm of Palmyra; Theresa Burm of Geneva, Lori (Paul) Walter of Clyde, Amanda Pilozzi of Lyons; 3 sons, Edward L. II of Rochester, James DeJohn of Lyons, Joe (Whitney) Pilozzi of Newark; brother Peter of Newark; sister Marjorie (Jerry) DeRuyter of Fort Lauderdale, FLA; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson, nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday (5/12) from 3-5 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. at the Schultz Pusateri Funeral Home, 103 Maple Court, Newark, where services will be held at 8 p.m. Burial in Newark Cemetery. Dickinson, Richard F. "Dick"
PALMYRA: Passed away peacefully on May 9, 2008 at the age of 65. Predeceased by his mother, Grace, sister Lois Taylor, nephew David Taylor. Survived by his wife, Lesley; children Susan Dickinson, Jason (Christine) Dickinson; 7 grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Johnson, Evelyn Ring Cummings
Canandaigua/Newark: On May 8, 2008, at age 76. Evelyn was born on August 22,1931, in Newark, the daughter Frederic and Margaret Parys Ring. After graduating from Newark High School in 1949, Evie left her hometown to pursue a job in modeling. This eventually led her to an exciting and adventure-filled career as a flight attendant for Colonial Airlines of which she was most proud. She left the airlines to marry and raise her family in Waltham, MA. Following the untimely death of her fIrst husband, Willis A. Cummings, in 1972, she reentered the work force as a secretary, first for the Plympton Elementary School in Waltham and then the Learning Prep School in Newton, MA. Evie re-married her long-time friend Roger L. Johnson, Sr.:: in 1998 and happily spent her remaining years residing in Canandaigua. She had a creative and artistic mind that loved beautiful things and had an eye for fashion and interior decorating. Evie enjoyed knitting, embroidery and going "antiquing". She was an avid reader and gardener who enjoyed flowers of all kinds but had a special affinity for roses. Evie was most at peace at home with her husband Roger, surrounded by her gardens, wild birds and beautiful views of her beloved Canandaigua Lake. She is survived by her husband of ten years, Roger L. Johnson, Sr.; her children, Laura R. Cummings (William) of Millbury, MA, Kenneth Cummings of Newark, NY, and Stuart Cummings of Boulder, CO; stepchildren, Jacqueline Johnson and Roger (Carol) Johnson, Jr. of Newark; grandsons, Steven W. Cummings and William M. Fennelly; six step-grand-children; her sister, MaryJane Burke of Richmond, VA; her godchild, Dianna Irby (Robert); 2 nieces and 3 nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Willis Cummings, in 1972. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday (May 13th) at St. Michael's Church, 325 South Main Street, Newark. Burial will follow in Newark Cemetery. Newark: Entered into rest May 2nd, 2008 at the age 60. She is predeceased by her granddaughter Emalee and father-in-law Edward Mein. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, James, Sr; son, James (Christy) Jr. Mein of Romulus; grandchildren, Caleb, Maegann, Gerald; parents, Lawrence and Bernice Snyder of Fort Covington; mother-in-law, Madeline Mein of Clyde; brother, Francis (Margaret) Snyder of Fort Covington, and several nieces and nephews. NEWARK/PALMYRA: Age 91, of North creek Road in Palmyra, died Sunday, May 4th, 2008 at Newark-Wayne Hospital. Doris was born in Marion, August 3, 1916, the daughter of Joseph and Susie Moose Orbaker. She was a long-time resident of Newark and lived in Palmyra for the past 5 years. Survived by two daughters; Shirley (Gene) Renckert, of Palmyra and Barbara (Louis) Haitz of Fairville., 1 sister, Mary (Fred) Gardner of Palmyra, several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Raymond J. in 1977, and sons Kenneth and John and daughter Diane; 2 grandchildren, kenneth and Diane, 2 great-granddaughters, Erika Renckert and Laura Hargrave, 2 brothers, Arthur and Alvin Orbaker, ex-son-in-law James Mazur. Survived by her loving and devoted daughters, Diane Dell of Fairport, Carol Bliek of Marion; special grandchildren, Lynn Dell, Thomas Bliek (Frederick Knopp Jr.), Timothy (Karen) Bliek and Raymond Dell; great-grandchildren, Raymond Richard Dell, Gabrielle Bliek and Tyler Bliek; sisters-in-law, Louise DeVolder, Jennie Schnaus; several nieces, nephews and friends. Sodus/Asheboro, NC: May 3, 2008 in Asheboro, NC, Emma Jean passed away peacefully at age 86. Emma Jean was employed for many years at Sarah Coventry in Newark where she made many lasting friends. Emma Jean and Howard enjoyed camping, hiking, canoeing, biking and cross country skiing with their many close friends in Sodus. For twenty years they spent the month of August in New Hampshire where they were often joined by friends. Emma Jean loved playing bridge and belonged to several Bridge Clubs. She also enjoyed quilting and needlepoint, collecting light houses and antique dishes. She left many mementos for her family. She is predeceased by her parents, loving husband Howard; three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by daughter Pat Myers; son Edwin (Sherrill) Sermon, grandchildren; Teresa (Ralph) Shaffer, Jeff Myers, Kristian Myers, Jonathan (Shelia) Sermon, Kristin Bowden, Sean (Betty) Sermon, and Brian Sermon; nine great-grandchildren. Interment at Sodus Rural Cemetery. Newark: May 6, 2008, Hazel May Swartz, one month shy of her 100th birthday. Mrs. Swartz was born the daughter of the late Frederick and Emma Hollowbeck Allen on June 6, 1908 in Newark, NY. She was a graduate of Newark High School in 1926. She worked at Superior Body Sales for many years as a secretary. Mrs. Swartz taught Sunday School at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church where she and her husband attended. She was a great nature lover and enjoyed flowers, bird watching and walking. She and her husband were known in the community as “the walking couple.” She will be remembered by her son & daughter-in-law Richard & Carol Swartz of Greece; grandchildren Craig (Peg) of Webster, Bart (Trina), Clinton (Laura) and Lorie Hayes all of Greece; 6 great grandchildren; sister Betty Ahrans of Newark; several nieces & nephews. Welch, Rena B.
CLYDE: Mrs. Rena B. Welch, 83, of 888 Lockpit Rd., died Tuesday (May 6, 2008) at Newark-Wayne Hospital following a brief illness. At Rena's request, there will be no prior calling hours or funeral services. Memorial contributions to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated. Mrs. Welch was born on November 28, 1924 in Macedon, the daughter of Philip and Ida Brooks Holt. On June 20, 1942 she married Paul Welch and has resided in Clyde for over 60 years. Rena was a bowling instructor for junior bowlers for many years, and she enjoyed doing her farm chores. She is survived by her husband Paul Welch of Clyde, her daughters, Sue (Bob) Campbell of Clyde, Sandi Welch of Waterloo, Elizabeth (Wayne) Wilsey of Savannah and Cindy (Steve) Anthony of Clyde; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; her sister Ella Arliss of Clyde and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her son Ronald Welch in May of 2007.
