Former Clyde-Savannah Athletic Director/Coach/Teacher Arrested in Florida for Stalking teenage school girls

Deputies learned through their investigation had often approached girls who he thought were “street girls” and would offer them rides, and a chance to earn some money.

Former Clyde-Savannah Athletic Director/coach/teacher Ronald R. Vitticore, age 64, a former coach and teacher at Clyde Savannah Schools was arrested on Tuesday (3/1) following a harassment complaint from a 16-year old girl.

The Lee County Florida Sheriff’s office reported that Vitticore admitted he would show up at bus stops and follow girls walking home from school and work in a small community in Fort Myers, Florida, where he moved to following his retirement from Clyde-Savannah in 1998.

A mother alerted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office that her teenage daughter complained of an adult male stalking her. The victim told police she had been followed for the last few months by Vitticore and she asked him to leave her alone. The girl said of Vitticore, “He stalked the two buses from here to the mall to downtown Fort Meyers. He stalked me, it scares me. I can’t have a life.”

Deputies learned through their investigation had often approached girls who he thought were “street girls” and would offer them rides, and a chance to earn some money.
Vitticore offered to give the 16 year-old girl rides, and told her (and others) to “notify him anytime they needed to make some money.” The girl explained that she would see him often as she left her mother’s work place, or while leaving school. The victim’s sister confirmed the girl’s story. Police said the 16 year old was becoming concerned for her safety.

Vitticore’s vehicle, a green Toyota Camry, was stopped just before 8:00 am on Tuesday near the bus stop where he had been stalking the girl. He was taken into custody without incident.

With his admission, Vitticore, a 2001 Section V Coach Hall of Fame inductee, was charged with one count of Misdemeanor Stalking, and was placed under arrest. He is currently in custody at the Lee County Jail.

Former students of Vitticore described him as a wonderful, caring teacher. Vitticore, formerly a Clyde resident, gave his current address as 8051 Queen Palm Lane #812, Fort Myers, Florida. Police are investigating to see if there were any other victims.
