Former Clyde man arrested for Sexually Abusing young children/ Possession of Child Porn

On Friday (12/21) State Police out of Waterloo arrested 49 year old Ronald T. Spoor, for the felony charge of Possessing an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child. The arrest stems from an ongoing investigation into reported child sexual abuse by Spoor.

The State Police executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence, located at 1486 Gassner Road in Waterloo on Tuesday (12/18). Evidence seized from the search warrant led to Friday’s arrest.

Spoor was arrested at his parent’s residence, at 38 East Dezeng Street in Clyde. At the time of his arrest, Spoor was out after a $10,000 cash/$20,000 bond had been posted regarding recent criminal charges on both December 7th and December 13th of Sexually Abusing children under the age of 11. One of the children was a 7 year-old Wayne County boy.

Spoor, who was recently divorced, was arraigned in the Town of Waterloo on the most recent charge and remanded to Seneca County jail without bail.

Until recently, Spoor had been employed at Parker Hannifan in Clyde, He graduated from Clyde Savannah High School and was a lifelong Clyde resident. According to police, they believe Spoor has been abusing children “the majority of his life.” The case came to light when a young girl confided in a friend at school.

Police said Spoor used to build computers and that they had seized several computers and hard drives. Police are trying to identify other children found on Spoor’s computers and also believe he had obtained some of the images over the internet.

Police said the case was unusual, in that Spoor allegedly abused children of both sexes. Anyone with any information relative to this investigation is asked to contact the State Police Waterloo BCI at (315) 539-3530.
