BUSTED – Operation All Betts Are Off Nets 8 Arrests

On Tuesday (10/1) area police culminated a two year investigation of a cocaine distribution network affecting almost every community in Wayne County, and parts of Ontario and Monroe Counties.

“Operation All Betts Are Off” targeted Horace Betts III, age 29, of Maple Street in the Village of Lyons, the leader of the distribution organization. Betts was charged with 2 counts- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, 1 count- Criminal Nuisance in the 1st Degree, 3 counts- Conspiracy in the 4th Degree, 1 count- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree. In addition, he faces 1 count- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree (A1 Felony). He was arraigned in Ontario County Court and was out on $20,000 bail. he was arraigned on the Wayne County charges and remanded to the Wayne County jail on $10,000 cash/$20,000 bond.

Horace Betts III and his co-defendants were responsible for the distribution of approximately (1) one kilogram of cocaine per month in and around Wayne County for many years, during which Horace Betts III thought he was “untouchable”.

Yadiel R. Correa, age 25, of 122 Geneva Street in Lyons, faces 11 counts, including 4 counts- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree; 2 counts- Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree; 1 count- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree; 2 counts- Criminal Nuisance in the 1st Degree 2 counts- Conspiracy in the 4th Degree.

Correa was remanded to jail on $50,000 cash/$100,000 bond.

Horace Betts Jr. (Hoarce III’s father), age 51, residing on Route 31, the Houses Motel in Newark faces 9 counts including: 2 counts- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree; 2 counts- Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree; 1 count- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree; 1 count- Criminal Nuisance in the 1st Degree; 3 counts- Conspiracy in the 4th Degree. He was arraigned and remanded to jail on $50,000 cash/$100,000 bond.

Ashley Santell, age 25, of Maple Street in Lyons, faces 5 counts including: 2 counts- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree; 1 count- Criminal Nuisance in the 1st Degree; 1 count- Conspiracy in the 4th Degree; 1 count- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree. She was arraigned and released on $1000 cash bail.

Brittany Russell, age 23, West Union Street in Newark, faces 3 counts, including 2 counts- Criminal Facilitation in the 4th Degree; 1 count- Conspiracy in the 4th Degree. She was released on appearance tickets.

Luz Correa-Vasquez, age 47, 122 Geneva Street in Lyons, faces 3 counts including: 1 count- Criminal Nuisance in the 1st Degree; 1 count- Conspiracy in the 4th Degree; 1 count- Criminal Facilitation in the 4th Degree. He was released on appearance tickets.

Torey D. Smith, age , of Lyons, faces 1 count- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree (A1 Felony).

Dajuan M. Bacot, age 26, unknown current address in Rochester, NY faces 2 counts; 1 count-Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree (A1 Felony); 1 count- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree (A1 Felony).

On June 14th, 2013 members involved in the investigation arrested Horace Betts III, Torey Smith and Dajuan Bacot in the Cobblestone Court plaza parking lot in Victor while Horace Betts III and Torey Smith were purchasing approximately a quarter kilogram of cocaine from Dajuan Bacot.

Teams then executed search warrants in Wayne County and the City of Rochester at multiple locations, at which time additional cocaine was seized along with approximately $21,000 cash.

The investigation, conducted by the Wayne County Narcotics Enforcement Team (Wayne NET), Wayne County District Attorney’s Office, members of the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), New York State Police- Troop E members, US Drug Enforcement Administration- Rochester Office, US Border Patrol, US CBP Air Assets, Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Ontario County District Attorney’s Office and Seneca County Sheriff’s Office utilized multiple means of physical and electronic surveillance to infiltrate the “Betts” organization resulting in the indictments.
