State Police in Wolcott reported stopping a vehicle on Sunday (5/26)...
On Monday (10/1), the Sheriffs Office reported the arrest of Henry L. Singletary, age 60, of Auburn Street in Wolcott after an investigation into a missing skid steer. (small tractor)
Singletary, initially was hired by the Harper farms in Clyde to scrap an abandoned barn. On the Harper property was a John Deere skid steer that belonged to another area farmer. That other farmer, John Merrell of Wolcott, realized his equipment was missing and called the sheriffs office. The investigation led to Mr. Singletary, who initially lied to investigators. The missing skid steer was located on a farm in The Town of Galen. The farmer there had purchased the skid steer from Henry Singletary.
Singletary was charged with Grand Larceny in the 3d degree and Making a punishable false statement.
