Town of Walworth – February 7, 2013

Supervisor Plant called to order a meeting of the Town Board at 7:30 PM in the Walworth Town Hall Meeting Room. Meeting minutes from the January 17, 2013 board meeting were approved as presented, as well as the Supervisor’s Report for December, 2012. Reported correspondence included. No public comments were offered.
At 7:45 a public hearing was held regarding Proposed Local Law No. 2 Chapter 103, entitled “Litter Control Law”. After the hearing was opened, it was reported that due to additional changes to the proposed law the hearing was to be closed, and a new hearing will be scheduled at a later date.
Under Committee Reports, Councilman Yale requested approval to authorize the Town’s Engineer, LaBella Associates, to create plans to put out for bid a salt barn, which is a budgeted item. The board approved his request. Mr. Yale also requested that Mr. Norm Druschell, Town Building Inspector, be approved to attend the FLDOA Conference for $390.00, and for membership for $55.00. It was noted these are budgeted items and the training will be applied towards CE Credits, as well. This was approved by the board.
Councilwoman Marini requested that Supervisor Plant be authorized to sign a contract for musical entertainment for the annual senior citizen’s picnic, in an amount not to exceed $295.00. MS. Marini also made a motion to send Ms. Jackie VanLare, and Mr. Kevin Weiss, to the 73rd Annual Parks & Rec Conference for an amount not to exceed $295.00. This was approved by the board.
Supervisor Plant reported that the Recreation Director, Ms. Jackie VanLare, approached him with the idea to mount a large screen TV in the Town Hall with information scrolling regarding town and recreation activities and events, and that the department has funds to make the purchase. The board agreed it would be a worthwhile addition, and approved the purchase.
In other business the board approved the Lincoln Fire Department and West Walworth Fire Department Service Award Points Listings.
The board then approved the following resolutions:
• Resolution #23: Scheduling a Public Hearing on February 21, 2013 @7:45 PM, for Proposed Local Law #4; Chapter 168 “Vehicles, Junked & Abandoned”.
• Resolution #25-14: Opposing The Process of Enactment And Certain Provisions Contained in the New York State Safe Act-
• Resolution #26-13: Support for NYS- Contact Information For Vacant Structures
The board then recessed the meeting to meet in Executive Session regarding a contract negotiations and future investigations at 7:52 PM. The meeting was then called back to order at 8:40.
No other business came before the board and the meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM. The next regular meeting of the Walworth Town Board will be held on Thursday, February 21st, at 7:30 PM in the Walworth Town Hall. By Becky Block
