Town of Butler – November 12, 2012

A regular meeting of the Butler Town Board was held on November 12, 2012 at the Butler Town Hall. The board members present were: David Spickerman, Sr., town supervisor, Duane VanGelder, Philip Wagner, Eugene VanDeusen and Bert Everhart, councilman. Robin Jeremenko, town clerk, was taking the minutes. Others present were: Ed Reitz, Dorothy Wiggins, Scott Stone, Jeff Harper, Don Camp, Trent Fralick and Phil Andrus.
Justice Stone and Justice Harper gave each board member a copy of their Appendix 9 Annual Audit Checklist. Both Judges went through each of the questions with the town board. The town board and the justices discussed receiving of fine monies, stamp dating, deposits, bail, scoffs, bank statements and bank reconciliation.
Minutes from October 8, and October 29, 2012 were approved.
The following departments submitted their monthly report for review: The supervisor, town clerk, justices, code enforcement officer and animal control officer. The following departments read their report aloud: the highway superintendent and historian.
Councilman VanDeusen reported that The Comprehensive Meeting will be on Wednesday, November 14th at 7:00 p.m. All highway equipment has been ordered for the 2013 budget.
CORRESPONDENCE:
The Unified Court System sent a certificate of Continuing Judicial Education for Judge Stone.
Each board member was given a copy of the letters sent to the Wolcott Civic Free Library and the Red Creek Free Library.
The Association of Towns sent a dues letter.
OLD BUSINESS:
The town clerk read the legal notice for the diesel fuel bid. The town received one bid from E & V Energy. The bid amount was: $3.3734 per gallon, plus a firm differential of .1295, which makes the net bid price $3.5029.
The town board and Edward Reitz, Highway Superintendent discussed sending a letter with a copy of the legal notice to fuel companies. The town board agreed to send out a letter with the legal notice to fuel companies.
NEW BUSINESS:
Supervisor Spickerman gave a copy of the State of Town Accounts to each board member and a copy of the justice audit review. He informed the town board that the judges, court clerk and himself will be meeting with the state auditors on Thursday, November 15th for the exit meeting.
Supervisor Spickerman told the town board that butler resident, Mike Saeli, would like to do an hour presentation to the town board about the fracking at the next board meeting. The town board agreed to a twenty minute presentation.
OTHER BUSINESS:
Town Historian, Dorothy Wiggins, invited the town board to advent service on December 2, 2012 at 3 p.m. at the historical church building.
The board gave permission to Supervisor Spickerman to sign the Wayne County Snow & Ice Contract.
