A regular meeting was held by the Board of Education of the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District at the Middle School Cafetorium on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, 7:00 PM. The Board accepted an anonymous donation of $1,714.16 to the Pal-Mac School District and a check in the amount of $43.01 from Imagine It to the Middle School as part of the Fundraising through Recycling program. The Board accepted 25 knit winter hats from Mrs. Shirley Lounsbury for the Intermediate School students and a Yamaha trumpet from Mrs. Susan Holvey to the Intermediate School.
The Board appointed individuals to the 2013 Facility Improvement Committee who will provide recommendations to the Board regarding the next facility improvement construction project.
The District Safety Committee developed a new District-Wide School Safety Plan. Prior to the Board’s adoption of the Plan, a public hearing will be held at 7:00 p.m. on March 12th followed by the regular Board of Education meeting.
The Board approved the 2013-2014 school calendar and adopted several amended policies that were reviewed by the Policy Committee.
The Board of Education appointed and welcomed Mr. Andrew Wahl as the high school principal. Mr. Wahl’s effective date is April 1, 2013.
Dr. Ike and Mr. Brongo gave their second budget presentation for the 2013-2014 school year. They shared the budget outlook based on the Executive State Budget Proposal and provided general information related to specific thresholds of the tax levy.
Dr. Ike reported that approximately one-third of the total students with disabilities in grades 7-12 participated in interscholastic athletics in the 2011-2012 school year. He then reported on the implementation of the Dignity for All Students Act.
Dr. Pacatte gave a report on the types of diplomas, credits and graduation requirements for students.
