Newark man arrested for Assault+

The Newark Village Police reported the arrest on Friday (6/30) of 29 year old Calvin L. Bostic, of 1050 Wood Hill Apartments in Newark, following a domestic incident.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 27, when the pair argued over marital infidelity. The wife reported that Bostic became angry over a perceived affair and began to strangle the victim until her nose began to bleed. He then ordered her to remove all of her clothing and leave the house. Before she could leave, he began beating her severely and then kicked her in the midsection so hard that she broke a hole in the wall. He then ordered her to shower in order to wash off the blood which was then coming from her nose and a four inch cut to her head.

She reported the assault three days later after she was brought to the Newark Police Department by a co-worker. The victim was taken to Newark Wayne Community Hospital where she was treated and released for a broken rib, multiple bruising of her entire body and lacerations to the head.

Calvin Bostic was charged with Assault 2nd, Assault 3rd, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing/Circulation, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Intimidating a Victim. He was arraigned before Newark Village Justice Michael Miller and release in his own recognizance. Assisting in the pick-up and transport was the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
