Welcome to the World
- Updated: March 21, 2014
I’m keeping it short and sweet this week. On Wednesday morning, my wife and I welcomed our baby son Grayson William Holdraker into the world. He was born at 6:17am (after a second trip to the hospital that morning), weighed in at 8lbs. 13oz. and was 22 inches long. Mom and baby are doing well and are currently sleeping as I type from my very uncomfortable fold out chair-bed.
Grayson must be a college basketball fan since he decided to arrive just before the start of the NCAA tournament. We were able to watch part of Syracuse’s first round game today, but he didn’t seem very interested. He slept through most of the game.
For obvious reasons, I’ve missed most of the games today, but sports is the last thing on my mind right now. I cannot stop staring at him…he just makes me smile. Our almost 2-year old daughter Camryn stopped by last night to meet her baby brother. She was very excited to meet him….at least for the first few minutes….then she turned her attention to anything else she could get her hands on.
We are really blessed to have two wonderful, healthy and cute children….kind of makes us want to have a third….just kidding…..we’ll see how this one goes first.
We apparently picked a high traffic week for babies. We were asked to move out of our fancy room into a smaller room (that I assume used to be a broom closet), to make way for other expectant mothers. We were glad to do so, but it threw a wrench into my plan of writing my column earlier in the night.
So for now, I will quickly check the daily sports scores, turn off my computer and attempt to get some much needed sleep on this concrete chair-bed.
I’ll be back next week with my regular column….until then enjoy this picture of Grayson which should fill in the rest of the space usually filled by my column and make my brother Devin (who expertly lays out the paper each week) happy.
