We need you!
- Updated: October 26, 2013
By now I’m sure you’ve seen our redesigned website. If you haven’t , check it out at waynetimes.com. Our website has come a long way from its original design back in 1998. I may be a little biased, but I definitely think we have the best website of any weekly newspaper and I think we rival many daily newspaper’s websites as well. I’d like to give a big shout out to my brother who put a lot of time and effort into developing our new site. One thing we constantly try to do is keep up with the times and find ways to expand our coverage both in our print edition and our online edition.
On the sports side of things, we now update the website daily with scores and highlights from high school sports action in Wayne County. Just click the “Scores” icon on the top of the page to reveal a live scoreboard that displays scores from all varsity sports.
We have also been adding more featured sports stories and have been doing live scoring updates from Section V games on Friday nights. We are posting more frequently to our Twitter and Facebook accounts and we are adding new stories on a daily basis.
I’ve mentioned before that we constantly receive feedback from parents asking why their kid/school is never featured in the paper. The simple answer I always give is….we need your help! We can’t be at every game.
So…..we’re currently looking for parents, coaches and fans to become “sports ambassadors” for the paper. We will be launching a program that will allow spectators to instantly (and easily) send scoring updates and pictures of their teams directly to our new website. Contributors will have the chance to win weekly prizes and their posts may be featured in our print edition (with credit) as well.
We’ll have more details available on the program soon, but if you’re interested in learning more and signing up now, contact us at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sectional tournaments have begun, so check out our extended coverage over the next few weeks as teams try to advance in the Section V tournament and state championships.
Ok….keeping it short this week so I can go watch the World Series. Go Sox!
