I’m keeping it short this week. I have a 6 month old (soon to be 7-month old) who’s teeth are starting to come in. This means my poor little girl is in a lot of pain right now and hasn’t been sleeping so well. This in turn means mommy and daddy haven’t been sleeping well either (mostly mommy). So I may fall asleep writing this. Speaking of my daughter, I promised an updated picture. Here it is (pictured right). This was her face after watching the Bills lose another close game.

The San Francisco Giants swept the Detroit Tigers to win their second World Series in three years. I watched a total of 20 minutes of the entire series. It wasn’t completely due to lack of interest; it was due to a lack of sleep. Guess I wasn’t the only one who needed to catch up on sleep….this year’s World Series was the least-watched in history.

So I didn’t catch the World Series, but I did watch the Giants/Cowboys game last weekend. Wow! What a game! Dallas nearly beat New York on a last second touchdown pass to Dez Bryant. The play was originally ruled a touchdown, but after review it was revealed that Bryant’s hand was out of bounds by inches.

It made me think about how far the NFL has come. Years ago, before instant replay and before high resolution video, Dallas would have won the game and we would be talking about that play/comeback for years. Now, it just goes into the history books as another Dallas loss.

In follow up to my column last week about the Buffalo Bills always finding new ways to lose and disappoint their fans…

I was talking to a guy at work today (a huge Bills fan) who made a funny, yet plausible prediction for the Bills this next 3 weeks. He predicted that the Bills would play a close game against Houston this weekend, but would eventually lose the game. Then they would pull out a surprise win against New England in Foxboro in week 10. This would get everyone excited again going into the Thursday night matchup with Miami. “Watch Fitzpatrick go down with an injury in week 11 and enter Tyler Thigpen to lead the Bills to a humiliating blowout loss in front of a Thursday night national audience”, he said. I laughed, but had to agree with his prediction. It totally seems like something that would happen to the Bills.
