Tuesday Mugshot
State Police out of Williamson reported stopping a Route 104 westbound...
For those of you who know me well, or at least read this column on occasion, you’re no doubt familiar with much of my life.
You know that I’m married and have been for a several years now – 4 to be exact. You know I have a son, who’s amazingly awesome by the way. He just recently hit the 18 month mark. Amazing how time flies.
You likely know my mom or dad better than you know me. They’ve been around for a while now and have been very public figures through both the paper and the various clubs and organizations they’ve belonged to. That’s ok by me. I prefer to stay out of most organizations because of the nonsense pseudo politics of it all. If I ever want to play politics, I’ll become a Politician.
Speaking of which, you probably know that I’m a Republican, either because you’ve read this column before, or know that I have a low tolerance for bullshit. Some people are afraid to say they’re Republicans anymore because of the whack jobs that hijaked the party over the past few years. Yes, even I think they’re whack jobs. But just as I can understand that not every Democrat is a Volvo driving Green Peace volunteer, not every Republican is a whack job.
You know that I work for my parents. You may think that means I’m spoiled, especially if you see me driving around in a Mercedes, and to a degree you’d be right.
When my parents hired me several years ago, my role was simply – sales for a small area. Today I cover the entire county for advertising, design every ad I bring in, layout this digital edition, manage our website and deliver newspapers to a good chunk of our many newstands across the county.
In addition I have run a design consulting agency for the past few years with dozens of clients and a continuing workflow that keeps me pretty busy. The icing on the cake is a web project I’ve been working on for the past several months. It’s a lot of extra hours that I should be spending either with my family or possibly sleeping. However in the end, I believe it will payoff and “the juice will be worth the squeeze”.
For all of that, I thought I was due a Mercedes, So I bought one. This is actually my second. The first one I really couldn’t afford but I needed to do it to keep myself motivated. I told my wife I’d work harder, and I did.
The next big purchase will need to be a proper house for my wife. She puts up with all of my nonsense and asks for nothing. For that, I’ve promised her everything and will do whatever I have to, including the long hours, to make that happen.
I’d even write a weekly column, which I said I’d never do.
