Get caught with an illegal weapon, go straight to hell without passing GO!

I came up with a near genius idea. With all the talk about making some guns and ammunition illegal and saving the world from all the gun-toting nuts, why don’t we really try something unique. My bright idea? Really put our noses to the grindstone and enforce the numerous laws we already have. After all, the trigger on an illegal gun, any illegal gun, cannot be pulled without somebody bad squeezing the shots off.

Example: If somebody is on probation, for, let’s say drugs, and they get caught with a handgun and ammunition, why not throw their asses right in jail. Don’t admonish them and let them off after arraignment with an appearance ticket. I sincerely doubt any good would come from convicted people on probation possessing a handgun.

Following a traffic stop, or probation check, and finding someone in possession of a weapon and subsequently they are charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, throw their asses in jail on a high bail. I could be wrong, but someone with the brains to commit and/or usually have a criminal record then carry an illegal weapon, probably has the courage and fortitude to use the weapon.

Wayne County District Attorney Rick Healy has/had several such cases for Grand Jury action and is not afraid to have these empty-headed butt wipes charged with Felony Criminal Possession of a Weapon. He told me he would ask for a one year jail sentence in these cases.

Unfortunately, the police and DA do not have the final word on sentencing individuals convicted of possessing an illegal gun, the courts do. I look forward to any judge releasing a convicted illegal gun carrier with a slap on the hand. I don’t care what the circumstances, unless we are willing to lock up illegal gun use, we have no right to mess with more gun laws. Unless we are willing to perform more and better background checks, we have no right to mess with more gun laws. Unless we can get other states to follow common sense in the sale of guns, we have no right to mess with more gun laws.

Chicago has one of the toughest gun laws on record, yet it has one of the highest crime rates involving the use of guns. Liberal Los Angeles, California has a very high youth gun murder rate, but illegal gun possession is not always treated as a major crime. Think about it, of all the mass killings that have swept the nation, how many were carried out with legal guns in the hands of registered gun owners?

I definitely will be following through with gun possession convictions and sentencing. I will be glad to let you know when a department, or judge thinks that, due to extenuating circumstances, we should give little Marvin just a bit more rope to hang himself, or someone else.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch. I went in for more surgery this week. Carpal Tunnel and trigger finger surgery on my right hand was performed on Wednesday. Ever try and wipe with the opposite hand? Brush your teeth? True to her word, Wife Patti refuses to help with the “wipe”. I now follow Zu Zu Dog’s lead and drag my butt over the carpet.
