State Police out of Williamson reported stopping a Route 104 westbound...
So I’ve mentioned before I’m not a huge fan of the NBA or NHL. However, after watching the playoffs for each sport these last few weeks, I’ve definitely become a bigger fan of the NHL.
I’ve always enjoyed going to hockey games. I used to go to both Sabres and Niagara University games when I was in college. I loved the non-stop action and the excitement of the crowd. I watch Sabres games here and there throughout the season, however, the excitement I get from watching hockey live has never really transitioned into the desire of watching games on TV.
The playoffs however, were exciting and the fact that the Stanley Cup series went 7 games, kept me interested. It was fun to watch. The U.S. vs. Canada. One team looking for their first Stanley Cup, the other trying to hoist the cup for the first time since 1972. You could see the intensity of the players on the ice.
It’s too bad that I woke up the next morning to see the riots in Montreal on the news. Those Canadians take their hockey pretty serious, eh? Win or lose, it seems they like to take the opportunity to riot in the streets. They rioted in 1994 after losing to the Rangers and when Montreal won in ’93, they rioted as well. It’s too bad. It detracts from an awesome, hard-fought series and a great Bruins win.
Then you have the NBA playoffs.….I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the NBA sucks! I keep trying to give it a chance, just to be disappointed. Yes, in the 6 game series between Dallas and Miami, a few of the games came down to the last final few minutes, but I was still careless of the outcome.
I can’t get over how boring the games are in general. You have a bunch of over paid, trouble-making, selfish whiners who jog back and forth, cherry pick, and forget plays. It’s absolutely depressing. There are hardly any teams left that truly play team ball. The good teams add more stars and the bad teams get worse. I would rather watch a High School or college basketball game any day! At least those guys are hungry and care…and the season is not nearly as long.
The only satisfaction I got from the NBA championship was that after all the pre-season hoopla and the cockiness in Miami that their self-made “dream team”, went home without championship rings.
By the way, my favorite LaBron James joke of the day:
LeBron was asked for change of a dollar but he only gave 75 cents. He doesn’t have a 4th quarter.
…Thank you and see ya next week!
