On Friday, Town of Macedon Police reported the arrest of Carpacio P. Murphy, age 29, of # 254 Steko Street , Rochester , for Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree, and Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree, following an investigation into a Byrne Dairy delivery driver.

Police were contacted when the management at Finn's Exxon in Macedon began to suspect they were being billed for milk products that were not actually being delivered by Murphy. The Macedon Police worked with management to document and video tape Murphy when he made his deliveries to the Macedon store. The police investigation revealed that Murphy was creating false invoices for product that he did not even deliver, and that he would then either delete or alter the invoices that he would turn into Byrne Dairy and keep the remaining cash.

Macedon Police Sergeant John Colella, stated that Murphy is alleged to have stolen between $7,000 and $10,000 dollars since June of 2007. Police are working with officials from Byrne Dairy Corporate Offices to determine the exact amount stolen by Murphy and Sergeant Colella advised that it appears that the Macedon thefts might be the only store that he was stealing from.

Murphy, who confessed to the crime was arraigned and was remanded to the Wayne County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.
