Willie Wonka to be Performed at Wayne Middle School

T.C. Armstrong Middle School will transform the Wayne Performing Arts Center into a world of “Pure Imagination” with their world premiere production of “Willy Wonka” a new musical based on Roald Dahl’s timeless children’s book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, beginning May 2nd.

Students of the Thomas C. Armstrong Middle School have been working with Tim McDonald, one of the shows creators and Founding Chairman of iTheatrics, a leading creative consultant in Educational Musical Theatre, to help refine the full 2-Act version of the script.

ZFX Flying Effects of Louisville, Kentucky have been contracted to provide the newly created “Wonkavator” which will launch from the ground and fly above the stage. 

Starring as the Candy Man is 8th-grader Jennifer Dombroski, who was seen as Kelsi Neilson in last year’s production of High School Musical and as Brigitta vonTrapp in TC Armstrong’s 2006 production of The Sound of Music. Making his debut playing Willy Wonka is 7th-Grader Gage Geminn.  Matthew Dell’Olio plays the part of Charlie Bucket and was seen as Jack Scott in last year’s High School Musical.

Mackenzie Morrill stars as Phineous Trout. Mackenzie was Taylor McKessie in High School Musical and Louisa von Trapp in the Sound of Music. Kristen Meiler plays Augustus Gloop and was seen as a Cheerleader in High School Musical and Frau Zeller in The Sound of Music. Allison Mullin plays the part of Violet Beauregarde. Allison was a Cheerleader in High School Musical. Summer Howard plays the part of Veruca Salt and this is her first middle school production. Garrett Lasch plays Mike TeaVee and this is his first middle school production.

  Produced by Mike Allen, with John Barthelmes as Artistic Director, and Patty Flowerday as Choreographer, the production will take place at Wayne Central Performing Arts Center, 6200 Ontario Center Road, in Ontario. The TCA Friends of Music, Tony Robusto/Nothnagle Realty, Mayzon Corp., Tracy Hendrikx, Independent Consultant for Pampered Chef, PhotonGear, Bench Mark Hydraulics Technology and Viola Dental sponsor the production.

The performance will be held at the Wayne Central Performing Arts Center, 6200 Ontario Center Road, Ontario Center. Advance ticket prices, all seats reserved, are: $9 adults, $7 students/seniors (add $2 at the door).
